Images and document blobs returned from tools are now nested inside FunctionResponse.parts for Gemini 3 and later models, instead of being sent as sibling inline_data parts. Legacy Gemini models keep the previous representation, and on Vertex AI, URI-backed response media is sent only when its MIME type is supported.
